The Apollo Theater Foundation, Inc. is a performing arts institution and non-profit organization founded in 1934. It presents work centered on Black artists and voices from across the African Diaspora, operating as a global center for innovation and a creative catalyst for Harlem, New York City, and the wider world. It is the largest performing arts institution in America committed to Black culture and creativity.
Located in Harlem, the foundation is rooted in its local community while engaging audiences from across the nation and internationally. Its programming includes Amateur Night at The Apollo, the longest-running talent show in America. The organization also serves as a catalyst for social and civic advocacy.
In December 2024, the Apollo became the first organization honored by the Kennedy Center Awards. The foundation's work spans the performing arts, entertainment, and cultural preservation sectors.
