Founded in 1903, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters is a labor union representing over 1.3 million members in the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico. It operates through a network of nearly 1,900 local affiliates, including 316 in the United States and 23 in Canada. The union's headquarters is located at 25 Louisiana Avenue, NW in Washington, D.C.
The Teamsters represent a diverse range of workers across numerous industries. These sectors include freight driving, warehouse work, airline pilots, construction, sanitation, health care, brewing, law enforcement, public defenders, and bakery operations, spanning both the private and public sectors.
Beyond collective bargaining, the organization performs functions such as pension management, safety and health training, community outreach, governmental affairs, and communications.
