A 2007 Chronicle of Philanthropy opinion article by Michael Watson, top HR exec at the Girl Scouts of the USA tells us something we already know: "nonprofit groups need to do a better job of reaching out to people of color. Native Americans, Latinos, African-Americans, and Asian-Americans represent a growing share of the nation's most talented employees, yet they remain underrepresented among nonprofit leaders." But if this is such a huge need, why aren't more organizations addressing it more effectively? Maybe it's simply a case of not knowing how or where to go to find talented people of color to fill positions.
